Are
you a cancer survivor or caregiver? Feel like you/your friend/relative needs
post-treatment care – from the management of side effects to psychological
support?
If
so, you’re probably asking yourself, “how do I develop and identify the best
programs, approaches and treatments in the relatively new field of cancer
survivorship?”
Ok, that sounds a bit stiff. Maybe you’re saying something like,
“HELP! Somebody please help me deal with all this STUFF I didn’t think about
before I figured out I was going to survive.”
Nicely, somebody has already done some "figurin'". According to a recent article by Nara Schoenberg, which I read in the Chicago Tribune, “In
an effort to help answer that question, the Livestrong Foundation (yes, that
Livestrong Foundation) has identified has selected seven comprehensive cancer
care centers nationwide to form the Livestrong Survivorship Center of
Excellence Network.”
They
are:
- Abramson Cancer Center, University of Pennsylvania Living Well After Cancer Program
- Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Adult Survivorship Program
- Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Survivorship Program
- Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Survivorship Center
- UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center Survivorship Program
- University of Colorado Cancer Center Survivorship Program
- University of North Carolina, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center Carolina Well Survivorship Program
